The Santa Barbara style house has strong, simple forms. The plaster corbels, scalloped shapes, and arches are woven into the fabric of the building, both inside and out. Scale is controlled, and the openness of the plans lends to the feeling of spaciousness and volume. Several antiques, including carved doors and crafted ceiling give the building maturity. Detail is sparing yet sophisticated and timeless. (Photography by Mary E. Nichols)
